HOW WIDE OF AN OPENING CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE WITH A RETRACABLE SCREEN DOOR?
A: We stock screens for standard size doors (up to 7ft H x 3ft W/6ft W for double) and oversize doors (up to 8ft H x 4ft W/8ft W for double). Other door sizes up to 12ft wide are available through special order.
WHAT DOOR TYPES CAN I USE RETRACTABLE SCREENS ON?
For doors, there are retractable screens suitable for single in-swing and out-swing doors, double-French, sliding patio and oversized doors.
I’VE GOT PATIO SLIDING DOORS – CAN I USE RETRACTABLE SCREENS?
Yes. You can use several types of retractable screens, depending on the size of your opening. For standard sized patio doors, take a look at our Legacy door screens. For large openings, check out our Distinction or Infinity manual retractable screens or Executive motorized screens.
DO SCREEN DOORS REQUIRE A TRACK AT THE BOTTOM?
Yes, they do; but they are subtle and can be integrated with a sill/threshold adapter to help prevent tripping hazards. There are different types of sill adaptors to suit different door installations – you can find out more by looking at the individual product pages on our website.
HOW DO I KEEP MY DOOR WORKING GREAT?
As the screens are retracted when not in use, they stay in their housings during wet and cold months. The amount of maintenance is therefore very minimal. We recommend cleaning the screens once or twice a season to eliminate any small dust particles in the mesh. You can clean our retractable screens with mild detergent and water, and gently wipe them off. We also recommend scheduling a tune-up every 3-4 years to keep your screen in great shape.
WHAT DOES A TUNE-UP INCLUDE?
It includes the replacement of the screen mesh, handles, tracks, and any other materials that are old, dented or faded. A re-adjustment of tension and a complete cleaning and lubrication of the door. Contact our office to schedule a Tune-up.
